This means ALL people – not just certain people you care about. Each and every person on Earth has a special mission or a unique purpose in life.

Learn to appreciate the special and not so special talents, skills, and personalities of others because you never know what lesson you’ll learn from them.

Accept responsibility. You should never accept the position that you’re a victim of circumstance.

You alone are responsible for the things you experience, the choices you make, and the outcomes of those choices and experiences.

Placing blame on others for your choices or mistakes is not only childish but will prevent you from learning from these mistakes and improving your life.

Strive to learn and improve.

You should know and understand that the job of self-improvement is never ending. It’s a constant cycle, and it revolves consistently as we advance through life.

Working to improve yourself, the lives of those around you and the world will make you one of the top visionaries that the world has ever seen!

By taking steps to improve yourself and looking for ways to improve the world, you’ll begin to think about solutions more creatively.

Discover the positive effect of challenges.

You must understand and approach all situations as if they’re a lesson and you should always strive to learn something from them.

Transform your thinking from believing that something is bad to believing that no matter how negative it appears at first glance, there is ultimately something positive to be gained from it.

Take action to make your dreams come true.

Last, but not least, if you’re seeking to become a visionary, you must be both a dreamer and a doer.

How to Be SMART When Making Your New Year’s Resolution

Have you been wondering how you can be SMART when making your New Year’s resolution?

Despite the fact that more New Year’s resolutions are broken each year than any other goal, we still look forward to opening that brand new calendar and imagining the possibilities that lie ahead for the New Year.

If you plan on meeting the challenge of making a New Year’s resolution, you may as well ensure that you make SMART choices, right?

SMART is an acronym for several different stages of the goal setting process.

If you’re planning to make a New Year’s resolution, it’s important to become familiar with what each letter stands for so that you can develop achievable resolutions.

The following represents SMART goals, broken down into an easy to understand manner:

The first step to creating a SMART New Year’s resolution is to be Specific.

You can’t just say “I want to lose weight” – that’s a very general statement with no real meaning.

Try saying “I want to lose ten pounds.” That’s more specific.

Whatever your specific goal is, write it down and post it where you will be reminded everyday.

The next step is to make sure that the goal is Measurable.

When we set goals, it’s important that we’re able to measure levels of our achievement.

By measuring, we can keep track of our progress and feel more motivated to move toward our final goal.

Make a chart or keep a journal to track your successes and achievements. Seeing a visual guide will help motivate you, especially during tough days.

Set goals that you know you can achieve, or that are Attainable for you.

If you set a goal of losing one hundred pounds, for example, this is not attainable for a short-term goal, and you’ll soon lose confidence.

However, one pound a week is certainly an attainable goal.

If you have a very large goal, such as getting out of debt or losing a large amount of weight, break that large goal into much smaller goals or steps.

Achieving a small goal every week will keep you determined to work harder and smarter.

The next aspect to the SMART New Year’s resolution system is that your goal must also be Realistic.

For example, setting a goal to win the Lottery is not particularly realistic.

It’s possible, but not probable. Also, it’s not something you have any control over.

For maximum success and continued motivation, choose goals that are something you can realistically expect to accomplish, even if you need to divide the final goal into smaller attainable steps.

The last aspect of the SMART system is Timely.

When setting a New Year’s resolution, you’re much more likely to succeed if there’s a time frame associated with the resolution.

You may give yourself a month, six months, or the whole year – the choice is yours.

The most important thing is that you take the time to set an end date.

Once you set a final deadline, work backwards and determine the deadlines of your smaller goals.

Pacing yourself throughout the year is more beneficial and less stressful than saving all the work for the last month before your final deadline.

Making New Year’s resolutions is very easy but those resolutions made without a clear plan in mind are prone to failure.

It takes a little work to ensure that the resolutions you set are SMART.

However, the SMART method can also ensure your success with an achievable plan! And that makes all the difference.

Have a Strategy for Losing Weight in the New Year

Too many people resolve to lose weight but never actually have a plan in place for doing it.

Therefore, year after year, they have the same New Year’s resolution because their goal was never achieved.

Has this happened to you?

How can you change this relentless pattern?

It’s important when setting goals to follow the S.M.A.R.T. goal system.

This system will help you accomplish what you set out to do and reach your goals in a timely fashion.

Be explicit in what you want. Write down a specific number of pounds that you would like to lose.

Weigh yourself every week and take note of your weight change, either up or down. Keep track of this in a journal.

Small goals which lead up to a larger goal are often easier to reach.

The success of reaching these small goals will keep you motivated.

Understand what your body is capable of doing and set your goals accordingly.

Keep your goal in focus by setting a completion date.

In addition, here are some more weight loss tips to help you succeed with your New Year’s resolution:

Have a plan of action. How much weight do you want to lose?

Break your total down into a series of smaller attainable goals.

For example, plan to lose ____ pounds by ____ (date).

Make these goals realistic, and then follow a plan of diet and exercise to achieve them.

Your plan may require changes in your lifestyle.

Work these changes into your daily routines one-by-one to attain your goals.

Write your goals down in a journal, and review them every day.

Change your diet. Figure out how many calories you’ve been consuming each day. If it’s over 2,500, gradually decrease the number of calories instead of immediately dropping to 1,200 calories a day.

For example, try limiting yourself to 2,000 calories a day for a week, then drop to 1,500 for another week. Eventually, you’ll reach your goal without being severely deprived.

Reducing your daily calorie intake will require healthy eating choices. Consult your physician for recommended nutritional guides, and choose the one that works best for you.

There are online programs that calculate your calorie and fat intake for you. All you do is write in your food choices.

Use whatever tools you need to simplify your tasks and stay motivated to reach your goals.

Get off the Couch. Set a reasonable exercise schedule to help you with your weight loss goal.

Design your exercise regimen to target the areas that need the most toning (i.e. thighs, abs, arms, buttocks, etc.).

Keep your exercise goals realistic. Start small if you need to, and then increase your regimen.

For example, running 5 miles every day will burn off a lot of calories, but it may not be feasible for you.

You may need to first try walking to build up some stamina, and then add in running little by little.

Setting goals, which are too far from your normal activities, will quickly wear you out and discourage you.

Start small and build on each success. Increase your exercise time (or treadmill speed, or incline, etc.) by a small increment each week.

Exercising a little bit each day will increase your energy and help you become healthier.

And you don’t need a gym membership or expensive exercise equipment either.

Walk or run around your neighborhood or use canned foods instead of weights.

You can even borrow exercise DVDs from the library.

Make Some Friends. The people who are usually the most successful in losing weight and keeping it off are the ones who have a great support system.

Nothing deters you like knowing you’re accountable to others for every bite you put in your mouth.

Your support team will encourage you, work out with you, and bring you confidence when times are tough.

Some people find it helpful to join a local weight loss support group or an online weight loss group.

Celebrating your weight loss successes with others will make them that much more meaningful.

Losing weight is possible for anyone who approaches the challenge wisely.

With some careful planning and determination, your weight loss goal can certainly become a reality in the New Year.

Get Well and Stay Well with a Healthy Diet and a Healthier Attitude

In order for the body to properly maintain itself and stay optimized for day to day living, it’s important to have both a healthy body and mind.

You can achieve glorious health by engaging in a diet that’s nutritionally sound along with a positive mental attitude!

If you feel that you are lacking in one area or the other, you may want to change your diet, your exercise routine, or your overall mental attitude.

Generally such lifestyle changes don’t happen overnight so be patient when looking for results.

If you’re trying to lose weight, remember that sometimes the body gets healthy on the inside first before you see results on the outside.

How To Get Started

First, start with a detailed evaluation of your current health – both physically and psychologically.

You should know what, if any, medical conditions you have, as well as any mental conditions that are present.

Do you have:

A weight issue
High blood pressure
Elevated cholesterol
High blood sugar
Medium to high risk for enduring a heart attack or stroke
Sleep complications
Depression
Deteriorating health as you get older

Your health care provider can answer these questions for you as well as make suggestions for changing to a healthier lifestyle.

Making Lifestyle Changes

Once you’ve evaluated your current health situation, you should consider how you’ll make necessary lifestyle changes.

Setting small goals for yourself sets you up for success as you achieve each small step.

For example, if you have an issue with being overweight, what are some changes that may help you drop a few pounds?

Common behaviors that tend to pack on the pounds include drinking sodas, indulging in a lot of sweets, eating a lot of processed foods, and even eating late in the day.

Avoid bringing high fat, high calorie foods into the house so you won’t be tempted to eat them.

Join a gym or take a walk around the block at lunchtime.

Ask a friend to join you and make a habit of it.

If you have trouble sleeping, take a quick look at the area you sleep in. Is there something that could be distracting you?

Watching television before bed – or while in bed – can over stimulate your brain, causing you to have sleep issues.

Limit your TV viewing before bed and keep it turned off in the bedroom.

Stress can affect your sleep.

Develop a bedtime routine to enable your mind and body to relax before going to bed.

Change anything that could have undesired results – even if it’s only one or two things at a time.

Change IS Possible

If you want to get well and stay well with a healthy diet and attitude, consider your overall feelings about life.

Do you tend to stick with the notion that the glass is half full, or do you think the glass is half empty?

Do you play the victim when it comes to obstacles in your life, or do you see challenges as opportunities you can use to improve yourself?

Each day, think about all the things that went right.

Even if it seemed like a black cloud was following you, certainly something good happened.

Think about the good things in your life and meditate about the many good things coming your way tomorrow.

The most important thing to know and understand if you want to be healthier is that you are directly responsible for at least 95% of all that occurs in your life.

As for the other 5%, there are ways to deal with those things in a positive and productive manner as well.

If you want to get well and stay well with a healthy diet and a healthier attitude, it’s completely possible!

All it takes is some self evaluation, goal setting, and the motivation to make a change. Take it one step at a time and you will succeed!

Finding Your Creative Spark

Don’t you love it when your creativity manifests itself?

Creativity brings us benefits that go far beyond artistic expression.

Being a creative person can help you to be a better (and higher paid) employee, a better problem solver and an all around more effective person in anything you choose to do.

Even if you don’t think of yourself as an especially creative person, you’ll be glad to know that it’s there within you just waiting for you to use it!

Creativity can be expressed in many different ways.

Plus, there are many techniques you can use to develop and nurture your natural creativity.

How to Learn Creativity

Like many people, you may think that you’re either creative or you’re not. What a myth! If you long to be more creative, then go for it!

Here are ten tips you can use to become a new, more creative you:

Think of yourself as creative.

We all have the spark of creativity inside us; it’s just a matter of fanning that flame to keep it alive, as well as knowing where your particular brand of creativity is best applied.

The first step is to know that you’re creative.

Think positively about this and work to see your creative side whenever possible.

Think creatively. If there are two solutions to a problem, try them both.

Try out your new ideas, even if they seem a little outlandish at first.

These fresh, outside the box, perspectives can lead to huge breakthroughs.

Telling yourself that you’re creative is only the beginning; try to think creatively whenever possible.

Put your new ideas into action. Don’t worry what other people will think.

By trying out your creative ideas, even if you don’t succeed at first, you’ll learn something and give your creativity a chance to flourish.

Don’t be afraid to try new things.

Don’t over-think things; just go ahead and do it!

Rather than thinking of all the reasons NOT to do something, think positively and take a risk.

If you have always wanted to try writing or painting, just get it on paper (or canvas, as the case may be) immediately.

Let your creative impulses run wild.

Be inspired! Pay a visit to a museum, take in a play, try going somewhere you’ve never been or seeing something you’ve never seen.

Inspiration sparks creativity.

Make time for your creative outlets. We’re all busy these days.

Be sure to schedule some time for your creative pursuits.

Put yourself in front of your instrument, your computer, or whatever your medium may be for a few hours each week and let your creativity come out.

Enjoy yourself. Make your creative endeavor a joy, not a chore. This will ensure the continued flow of creative energies.

Play creative games. This is a fun way to foster creativity!

Get together with friends and play charades or another game where success hinges on being expressive and coming up with creative ways to communicate.

Try a new creative medium. If you have chosen a creative medium, try mixing it up when you get into a rut.

If you write, try playing music. If you’re a dancer, try painting – you get the idea.

Shake things up to get some new ideas and perspectives.

Take a break! If you’re stuck for ideas, don’t sit there in your work space staring at the walls.

Even the most creative people need to take some time off. This can allow a blocked well of creativity to flow again.

Get outside for a bit to recharge your creative energies.

Remember to be patient when nurturing your creativity. This shouldn’t be a stressful activity.

Make a habit of enjoying these techniques every day and one day soon you just may discover that you’re one of the most creative people out there!
