Watch this video, in which John Sculley describes the context under which Steve Jobs was asked to leave Apple:

Then talk about the important insights you thought about, as a successful person, “learning and growing and becoming more”, through what you learn by being aware and insightful.

Several ways we can improve our lives by studying this account of two successful people come to mind for me:

1) Steve Jobs was extremely passionate about his Vision, and genuinely making the world a better place. He stayed true to “what’s inside him to give”, no matter what. Even when “the numbers” didn’t support it. Even when it meant he lost the company his Vision built.

2) He didn’t need to be “the general”. He was the “Specialist”. Someone else could be “Mr. Corporate”. He didn’t have to get bogged down with managing all the details of running a company. Someone else could do that. His focus needed to be on “The Vision”. Later, after gaining new perspectives he needed through Pixar and Dreamworks, I think this video said, when Mr. Jobs returned to Apple, he had gained the experience to run a company successfully; still staying true to his Vision, or “sticking with your guns”, or “going with your gut”… and being true to yourself!

3) Just by noticing how Mr. Sculley carries himself, we can raise our “Consciousness of Wealth” to where his is, if ours *was* lower, before this “Quantum Awareness Leap” experience.

4) Mr. Sculley jumps jumps in his answer to this question from “the details way back when” to his big regret from that period of history.

Firs off, he at least in hindsight knows that he was part of an important period of time in World History.

Do you have that sense of perspective around what you are “Creating, Attracting, Manifesting and Allowing” – to how you’re building or unfolding your Vision, what you’re passionate about?

If not, why not!?

If so… Great!!!

Then talk about how that level of Awareness, and certainty, and inner-knowing, and inner-strength, and confidence helps you, in everything you’re doing.

Mr. Sculley appears to have reflected on what he could have done differently, years after he was “in the trenches” with this chapter of his life.

My question to you is why wait to do that yourself?

Become more introspective, and reflective, with the work you’re “in the trenches” with now.

“Does what I’m doing support my Vision and help it Serve more people, more effectively?”

“What am I not seeing in this?”

“What is the one action I should be taking today (what one thing should I be focusing on, at the exclusion of all others)?”

Think about all these things. And share your thoughts right here.

This morning I intuited something extraordinary.

It combines insights I’ve learned with the latest business development to which I have become aware, as a result of practicing “surrender”.

Since 2003 I have taught Think and Grow Rich at the master’s level. That course of study came about as a result of “The Carnegie Vision”, where Andrew Carnegie, today regarded as the second richest person in modern history, commissioned Napoleon Hill to dedicate 20 years of his life to studying what the wealthy do that the masses do not, and organize “The Success Philosophy” into something anyone can follow, to become as wealthy as they desire.

Mr. Carnegie was known as the best “people picker”, meaning he found the most capable people to run each aspect of his companies.

In other words, he outsourced the work.

Are you doing the same thing with your business?

What other areas of your life would you benefit from outsourcing as well?

In my spiritual studies, there is an idea that when you truly want something important, for you to have it, you must want it as much as a person underwater struggling to reach the surface wants – needs – that next breath of air.

That means making that one thing your dominant focus.

Last night I asked myself in which areas have I made the greatest investment of time.

The answer identified how I’m able to quickly improve… everything:

1) My blog (“work stuff”, specifically my Coaching page)

2) Emails – NOT a wise use of more than 10 minutes/day!

3) Uploading files – this happens on its own; yet I like watching the progress and have *chosen* to keep going back to watch (uploading to a back-up storage facility)

4) Eating

5) Walking

6) The Spiritual Journey

If you’re doing the numbers and realize my walk is only 34 minutes or so when I’m home, you realize I’m not giving my spiritual growth – which IS the most important thing to me… in concept, or which I know truly matters the most… my greatest attention.

Thus the need to outsource – work, and email. And let the uploading go on its own. While eating, I can also “learn and grow and become a better person”, while not doing emails. While walking I can also do the spiritual “sadhanas” or practices. As well as throughout the day, with all the extra time I have, by outsourcing … as much of the rest as I can.

What I realized this morning had greater significance.

The idea of oursourcing is to have the work go on, automatically, without your conscious involvement or attention.

You could think of that as what we do without even thinking about it, through all the habits we establish.

For example my girlfriend has her routine every morning – Alarm awakens her; she gets her coffee; prepares her breakfast to eat on the way to work, etc. And before going to sleep at night, she has the coffee maker ready for the morning, her “work stuff” is ready for her to grab, etc.

She really has created as much of her life to run on “auto-pilot” as she can, so she doesn’t need to think about the small details and everything runs efficiently, on time.

You do that, too. Right?

Here’s the thing I’m not sure will make sense. You may consider it esoteric. I’m not asking you to accept it or even to resonate with it. Only to take what makes sense to you and use it to better your life, where it can.

With the spiritual work “I” am doing, the process works similarly.

It’s about removing the sense of doership, in alignment with dharma. The work is getting done. Except there’s no sense of doer as separate from the absolute. There is only “standing back and witnessing the doing”.

It hit me this morning how all these things, outsourcing one’s work, establishing habits so daily activities are done almost without thinking, letting the dharma or one’s mission or life purpose unfold in the highest and best way for all concerned…

That’s all similar to what happens within your body.

Breathing takes place on its own. You don’t need to think about it.

Same with your heart beating, blood flowing, food digesting.

Maybe I’m really talking about what has been called “systems thinking”, where we design the systems that run our lives most effectively with the least amount of involvement.

The point is for me to free as much time and energy for what matters most to me.

And to suggest you do the same thing with your life, so you have time to do what matters most to you.

Someone forwarded me this video.

I was blown away by it.

In fact, I shared it with my dad and said it was one of the most amazing and inspiring things I’ve seen.

He said he agreed with me.

Then I shared it with my girlfriend, and she didn’t want to watch, yet did anyway.

Then she had me write down the information on two sheets of paper so she could share it with two friends she works with.

And she was going to share it by text to two of her close friends and her brother, because she was so amazed by it, too.

(I’m not exaggerating at all. I’m being totally sincere. Watch this video. You will be blown away by it, too!)

Personally I’ve watched it about eight times, and it’s no less impactful still for me.

And how much people beat him down (to mask their own insecurities and feelings of inadequacy).

You also saw him PROVE EVERYONE WRONG.

My question to you is this:

How are you like Jonathan?

What areas of your life have you not given yourself credit for being Excellent?

What are you ‘World-Class’ at?

What would you be, if you found what you love doing and nurtured and developed that talent, if you don’t already have one skill that jumps out at you right now?

How inspiring is Jonathan’s example, for you?

Who in your life, is your Charlotte, the person who believed in you when no one else would… and even believed in you more than you believed in yourself?

For whom are you, or can you, be the Charlotte?

You can be the person who is the rock for someone else and gives them the strength to push on, in spite of overwhelming odds, or no one else believing in that person!

(You can also believe in yourself that way, too, you know!!!)

Think about all these things.

I was just writing an email to my mom, when I realized it was important to make sure you’re adding beauty to your life… every day.

So I knew you could use this friendly little reminder.

As an asterisk, Lawrence is a spiritual friend who’s staying with me because he’s going to create a series of videos in my studio for me. (I’ll let you know about that at the appropriate time 🙂

Hi Mom,

One of the nicest things I got from having Lawrence here was one day he showed me a vase of daffodils he bought for himself, because he appreciates having fresh-cut flowers to brighten a room, or a day.

They were yellow and smelled great. Trinidad was coming that night, and he took one for himself to appreciate, and let me keep the rest in my room, to add “sparkle” for her.

Then after I returned them, he just gave me the one that he had pulled from the “pack”. It lasted quite a long time and was great.

A few days ago I mentioned that my purple tulips are starting to bloom and suggested that he enjoy them. He came into my room to see where they were, because he had not noticed them. Tonight I said there’s now three up, more than enough for him to enjoy. (He had not wanted to take one, if there were only two, before.)

That made me think “I should take one myself, because I like them so much!” instead of just suggesting “the beauty” for him.

So tonight I went out there and cut a really pretty one that has two blooming flowers on the same stem AND two bulbs that haven’t opened yet. It also has a bulge that I think could become another bulb.

It smells fragrant and looks beautiful. Very nice to have in the office!

(Then I went out and cut one and gave it to him. He was very appreciative.)

….So I guess it is true that “what goes around, comes around”! 🙂

If you haven’t given flowers to that special person in a while (or “yet today”!) … why not make this the “Just Because” time you do that?

I’m planning to see my girlfriend in a few days before I go back to enjoying my resort life.
