Action Strategies to Help You Stop Overreacting
We can often overreact to situations without even knowing it.
Well, we allow our emotions to take over.
Once you gain control over your emotions you’ll be able to choose better reactions, which leads to better solutions.
It’s important to remember that no one is perfect.
Everyone overreacts from time to time.
It’s when your overreactions become the norm that you should seek a better way.
Consider the following action strategies to help you stop overreacting:
1. The art of not reacting. In order to stop overreacting, you can try using the art of not reacting.
This means that when you’re presented with a certain situation, your goal will be to not react at all.
Instead, you’ll take the time to think about the situation and then formulate your action.
2. Let out your emotions. Let yourself feel your emotions as they come to you and find positive ways to express them.
When you let your emotions build up, they become stronger inside of you.
It’s difficult to stop yourself from overreacting when you’re full of pent up emotion.
3. Take a time out. If you tend to overreact with anger, it’s vital to allow yourself some cool down time.
If you feel emotions building inside you, instead of bursting out, go somewhere where you know you can be alone.
Cooling down will help you to react with a clear head.
4. Write it down. Instead of reacting to a situation at all, go write it down.
Writing it down is another way of giving yourself time to think over the situation.
Later on, once you read what you wrote, you may be able to see whether your reaction was an overreaction or not.
5. Practice relaxation techniques. When you adopt relaxation techniques, you’ll find that you’re automatically more in control of your emotions.
Try deep breathing or attend a yoga or meditation class.
Relaxation will stop your stress and you’ll be less likely to lash out with any negative emotion.
6. Avoid judging. Make it a point to stop judging yourself and others.
Judgments can give you strong opinions that may be unwarranted, which can lead you to overreactions.
In the same vein, when you judge yourself for overreacting, you aren’t allowing yourself to make mistakes, which is a self-defeating attitude.
Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
If you find that you’re overreacting to all of life’s situations, it’s time to start with the small things.
Ask yourself why you’re reacting to small situations with such negative passion.
There could be an underlying issue you need to deal with first.
Are you overly stressed?
Is your mind focused on something else?
Answer these questions and solve these problems first.
Just take it one thing at a time.
Change For The Better
Once you’ve discovered a method that works well for you, incorporate that change into your life permanently.
It’s important to expect that you will make mistakes along the way – but that’s okay!
You may still overreact from time to time, but we are only human and it happens.
Don’t let mistakes discourage you from jumping right back into the methods that work for you.
If you’re having trouble changing, remember to take small steps.
It’s quite difficult to become a different person overnight.
Try to bring an overall awareness to your life so you no longer feel the pull to overreact.
Soon enough, you’ll regain control over your emotions!

Action Strategies to Reduce Anxiety
Are you seeking a solution for your anxiety?
Perhaps you’ve found yourself spending lots of time sitting around and worrying, only to end up having more anxiety over your anxiety!
The only way to help the situation is to take action. You don’t need to resort to anything drastic, but if you take action even in small steps it could make all the difference.
Here are some action strategies for reducing your anxiety:
1. Get a biofeedback device. A biofeedback device will show you the subtle things your body does when it gets anxious. It will record your actions, such as increased heart rate, perspiration, temperature, and strained muscles. These are things you don’t normally notice.
When the biofeedback device gives you these readings, you get to know your body better and you’re then more able to counteract these symptoms and relax.
2. Talk with friends. Feeling anxious also usually makes you feel quite alone. One way to combat this is to remain open about your feelings and communicate with other people. Make time for your friends or family.
3. Seek counseling. You know yourself best and will be able to tell if you’re having mild anxiety problems or severely life-altering issues. If your anxiety is showing an interference with your daily life, seek the advice of a healthcare professional.
4. Meditate. Meditation is certainly an action strategy even though it seems like quite the opposite. Your choice to be inactive is an action in itself. Try to meditate by taking deep breaths in and out. Doing so will relax all of your muscles in the process and your problems will begin to fade away.
5. Exercise. Start an exercise routine. Exercise gets the endorphins pumping and will actually relax you. When you engage in regular exercise you get your body into a healthy rhythm. You’ll have a built-in break from anxious situations when you make time for exercise.
6. Start a journal. Starting a journal can be a real stress reliever. It’s like you have a secret friend to vent to whenever you want. In addition to reducing anxiety, starting a journal might also be beneficial for you because it will help you preserve good memories, too.
7. Eat a balanced diet. Putting healthy foods into your body can help reduce anxiety. Analyze your current diet and pinpoint the items that might need to go. Enjoy the less healthy items in moderation while you increase your intake of the nutritious foods your body craves. Also, you may want to consider taking a multivitamin.
8. Drink water. This one sounds simple enough, right? The truth is that water has some amazing healing powers. Be sure to get at least 8 glasses of clear fluids each day.
9. Find an outdoor hobby. Play a sport or start a garden. Not only will you get some much-needed fresh air, but also you’ll relieve stress while taking your mind off of your problems.
Reducing Anxiety
The truth is there are many things you can do to actively reduce your anxiety. Make a list of the things you find relaxing and make sure that you allow yourself some time each day to do one of them.
Focus on gaining better control of your mind. Don’t let your thoughts run away with you. Instead, give yourself some time to unwind in the evenings. Most important of all, don’t be too hard on yourself. Everyone deals with anxiety at some time or another, but you can use these tips to keep it under control.

We live in busier and busier times and must remember to schedule time to slow down and enjoy life in the present.

The Joy Of Everyday Things
We have the ability to find joy right here in the lives we lead now.
While it’s fun to go out experiencing new and exciting things, it’s always best to start where we are.
There are things to appreciate and opportunities for joy in everyday situations.
Consider these things on your quest for joy and fulfillment:
1. Spend quality time with family.
While it’s always a good idea to have meal times together, you can find much joy in just spending some quality time with your loved ones at home.
Some people might enjoy family game night, while others might prefer to talk and share what’s happening in their life.
2. Relax with an activity you enjoy.
Do you skip out on yourself in a quest to do one more chore before bed?
Choose your own relaxing activity and make it a priority.
Play a computer game, read a book, or take a bath.
3. Grab some fresh air.
Nothing brings you into the moment like some fresh air and nature.
In nature, you can escape your inner world for a few moments and realize that you’re a small part of something large and great.
Allow feelings of well-being and joy to wash over you and cleanse your soul.
4. Make an effort to be stress-free.
The biggest threats to a joyful life are the stresses and anxiety that arise in day-to-day life.
Don’t allow these feelings to build up or they can take away from your opportunities for joy.
Deal with stressful situations as they come up so that they don’t turn into long-term stressful scenarios.
Trying New Activities
Once you’ve mastered the art of finding joy around you in your everyday life, it’s time to see how you can add to it by trying new activities.
You don’t need to make major changes, but trying new things and escaping your comfort zone from time to time can refresh and rejuvenate you.
Here are some tips for trying new activities:
1. Start with your hometown.
Look at the different opportunities for fun around where you live.
Chances are there are places that you’ve always been meaning to try out but haven’t yet.
2. If you’re an adventurous person, seek a new activity every now and then that excites you.
You could try rock climbing, horseback riding, canoeing, or even traveling to new and exciting destinations.
3. If you have a family, look for new family-friendly opportunities.
You can even set a date to do activities together with your neighbors or other close families.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to opening yourself up to new opportunities.
Stay creative and brainstorm a large list.
Then start enjoying them all, even if it’s only one at a time.
