I can learn the triggers of my stress and target them.

I am proactive about my peace of mind. Peace does not come to me accidentally – I seek it.

Each day, I take a mental inventory of how I feel. I identify the things that caused me stress and the things that brought me joy and I am in constant pursuit of true happiness.

Self-reflection on a regular basis helps me become aware of the things that cause me stress. I plan to protect myself against these things in the future and strive to avoid them altogether.

I know what makes me feel stressed and I know how to counter anxious thoughts. I am in tune with my body and mind. My body sends me physical signals I can identify as cues when stress overwhelms me and I choose to obey these cues.

To reduce my stress, I plan ahead in order to stay organized. I complete my work early so I can be relaxed near deadlines.

I am not alone in this life and so I allow myself to trust others and ask for help when I need it most.

That is why I take on the appropriate amount of responsibility that I can handle and I either postpone or delegate anything above that.

I have the courage to walk away from situations that cause me stress. I am guilt-free because I choose to sow peace over conflict, and I understand that peace comes from within. I choose to let it radiate from within me!

I can handle all stress in a positive manner.

Stress may be a fact of life, but I am equipped to handle it positively, and thus I am strengthened.

It is healthier to manage my stress in a positive manner than to allow it to affect me negatively. When I make the choice to positively handle stress, I am able to quickly deal with the cause of stress.

And by coping with the cause of stress effectively, I give myself the opportunity to reduce or eliminate my stress levels permanently.

By dealing with my stress positively, my character is strengthened. I am able to create a positive attitude within myself through affirmative thinking when faced with worry.

I feel a sense of confidence because I know I can manage my stress swiftly and positively.

This is because I give myself the time, patience, energy, and tools necessary to manage stressful situations without succumbing to the stress.

I have the ability to use positive, healthy coping skills to deal with the stress in my life. I am far less likely to become overwhelmed in stressful situations when I know how to handle them in a positive, peaceful manner.

Today I will use positive thinking in my life to help me to deal with my stress.

I will continue looking at the sunny side so I can train myself to focus on my successes. By doing this, I help my mind to react positively when stress occurs.

How Stressful Thinking Affects You

We all encounter stress from day to day and minute to minute, but how we deal with stress determines whether it moves us forward or holds us back.

Stressful thinking is often frenzied, inaccurate, and unreliable, yet many of us go through life thinking and behaving in stressful manners. Many of us assume that this is the way life has to be, and there is no getting around it, but this is certainly not the case!

Silencing negative thinking may be easier than you ever imagined it could be, but it begins with a positive thought.

Negative Thinking, Positive Aspirations, and You

Negative thinking not only controls the way you approach life, but it also can affect your body, mind, and relationships in negative ways. When you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you have the power to move forward in a healthier and more productive way. With enough time and effort, you can change your thought process, and it all begins with just a few words.

The Power of A Few Words…

When you see a list of affirmations, you see nothing more than a list of words with idealistic phrases that do not seem to apply to your thinking. If you look closer at each affirmation, you may find that many of them encapsulate the way you would like to think.

When you see a positive phrase that speaks to you, latch onto it and use it to extinguish the negative thought you want to get rid of. In essence, you will be replacing your negative thinking pattern with a positive approach. This is what positive affirmations are all about!

Affirmations are positive statements that stimulate your mind to accomplish all of the great things you would like. Words have the power to move mountains because they can evoke emotions within us all. If you use an affirmation that speaks to you on a deep level – and you reaffirm it by repeating it often – you can make the statement your mantra and your reality.

If you are overcome by negative thinking to the point where you think no affirmation can work for you, don’t lose hope! There are many affirmations that can help you deal with just that! Using an affirmation such as, “Negative thinking is not my way of thinking” will give you the power to change your thought process and your life. It may feel awkward at first, but as you reaffirm the positive emotions you desire, your negative thinking will be replaced with positive thoughts.

There are many different affirmations to help you with negative thinking. Something as simple as, “Negative thoughts cannot enter my mind” will allow you a moment to replace anger and frustration with a positive thought.

Does this sound too good to be true? There are many people who, just like you, think this strategy is too simple to be effective. The only way to know for certain is to try it for yourself. What do you have to lose? No one has to know but you, and you just may find that the benefits are so great that you want to share them with everyone you know.

Dealing with Stress on the Job

Do you often feel like you’re going to lose your mind if you continue to work in such a stressful workplace? We all experience stress on the job. It is not unique to anyone, but what is unique to each of us is how we deal with it.

You can learn to deal with work-related stress in a positive manner so it doesn’t continue to hold you back. When you are unable to deal with stress effectively, you can’t be as efficient or effective on the job and, more importantly, your health will suffer.

Techniques to Deal with Stress at Work

When you feel stressed out at work, you need to learn how to harness your emotions so you can move forward. Luckily, there are many ways you can do this; you just need to find which technique works best for you.

Here are five workplace stress techniques:

1. The best thing you can do when you feel the stress coming to a boil is to stop what you’re doing and just breathe. You’ll be surprised at how much it helps just to take a breath and gather your thoughts. In fact, take ten slow, deep breaths, then return to your work. The great thing about this technique is that you can do it anywhere, even when you’re sitting in your boss’s office!

2. Take a moment to write. When you start to feel stressed, find some privacy, pull out a blank piece of paper, and write freely for five minutes. Free, uncensored writing for just a few minutes will allow you to get the emotions out of your mind for good. When you put all of the emotions down on paper, crumple it up and throw it away. Then try to return to work without the stress.

3. Use positive imagery. Keep a calming picture on your desk or on your computer background and when you feel like you cannot take anymore, stare at the image and imagine yourself there. Doing this for even 60 seconds can restore your sanity so you can move forward without the crippling effects of stress.

4. Listen to peaceful music. If you put on calming music when you’re stressed, you may find that it can instantly calm you like nothing else. If you keep the music quiet and peaceful, you’ll feel at ease during your work day. Music is a great way to find peace and lose the stress.

5. Use positive thinking. When stressful and negative thinking is getting the best of you, you can counter it with positive statements and thoughts. You can say things such as, “I can manage stress because I proactively choose peace.” When you repeat positive sayings in your life, you’ll be able to squeeze out negative thoughts from your mind, and move towards the positive.

These are five simple ways to cope with stress on the job. The great thing is that you can quickly and easily incorporate these strategies into your work day without allowing stress to overwhelm you.

Every day will bring new stressors into your workplace, and that is why you should have several different coping techniques in your stress management toolkit. Once you begin to incorporate these strategies into your life, you will find that everyday stress will become easier to deal with, and you will actually feel healthier and more productive.

Even if you love your job, there are going to be days where you are going to experience stress. Many people allow stress to get the best of them, but you don’t have to. You can learn to cope with workplace stress so you can use the stress to move you forward instead of hold you back.

A Look At Workplace Stress

When you are stressed out about your work, you may feel like you are on an island all by yourself. Of course, it isn’t the case at all. Did you know that as many as a quarter of the people you work with right now feel as though the workplace is the biggest stressor in their life? It is also thought that three quarters of employees feel as though they have more on-the-job stress than their parents ever did.

On-the-job stress is not something unique to you – everyone experiences it! Sometimes just knowing this is enough to help you get through to the other side so you can start feeling happy and healthy again.

Thankfully, there is something you can do to reduce workplace stress in your life.

Workplace Stress Solutions

Some solutions to workplace stress include:

Letting the little things go, it probably doesn’t matter anyway
Proactively balancing work and family life
Creating a support network of friends and family, or even co-workers

Letting Things Go

The fact is, when you allow yourself to take a more relaxed and positive outlook on the world, it will suddenly become a lot more relaxed and positive. When you choose to have a positive approach in life, you’ll likely find that the things that would have stressed you out before will now roll off your back. It’s not that you won’t feel stress; it’s just that you will have a more positive way of interpreting things so that stress is not necessarily such a bad thing.

Finding Work-Life Balance

When work takes over our lives, that’s usually when we become stressed out at work and when we cannot cope well. You should make sure that you engage in daily activities that do not involve work, even if this is simply reading a chapter of your favorite book or picking up the phone to call a friend. When you allow your work life to consume you, stress will consume you too. In turn, you’ll become less efficient and effective at your job.

Relieve Work Stress with Quality Family Time

Make sure you spend time with your friends, family, or even your co-workers outside of work. We often allow our home to become an office away from the office. That’s no good! Make sure you have a support network of friends and family members who will remind you that there are plenty of things to do that aren’t related to your work in any way. It’s also helpful to have this support network so that when you are stressed out, you’ll have someone to turn to. Oftentimes a support system helps keep us grounded when we would otherwise be tightly wound with work-related stress.

It’s true that stress is a part of life, but that doesn’t mean it needs to consume us. Stress will come and go, but coping is something that needs to be ongoing so you can live a great life inside and outside of your professional life.

I am calm and relaxed in all situations

My ability to remain calm in challenging situations is one of my greatest strengths.

The ability to deal with adversity in a relaxed state ensures my success. I have the confidence to tackle any situation because I know I can stay calm, cool, and collected.

I wake up feeling relaxed and do my best to maintain that mental state until the end of the day. I may face situations during the day that challenge my ability to remain calm, but I handle them gracefully.

I know that I can only be upset by my circumstances if I upset myself. I dictate my emotions.

I value my ability to stay calm and relaxed. These qualities are good for my health and my relationships.

Life is more enjoyable when I can separate myself from stress and worry. I prefer to focus on solutions rather than bemoan my obstacles.

It is easier to maintain a calm attitude when I focus on solving the challenges in my life. Obsessing over the obstacles I may face inhibits my ability to deal with them effectively. I am at my best when I have positive thoughts.

Today, I feel calm and relaxed. I free myself from negative emotions and worry. I can handle any situation that comes my way.

I find each day to be a relaxing experience. I start my day feeling calm and stay that way until bedtime.

Five Ways to Find Inner Balance in a Hyper-Connected World

The modern world is always on. From phones that never stop ringing to email inboxes flooded with messages, it’s hard to find peace. You’re overwhelmed, tired, and trying to keep up.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to find balance in your life. Try these strategies to coexist with technology and still have inner peace:

1. Focus on creating a healthy relationship with technology.

Between work, family and friends, you may be online frequently. Your job may require you to use email, or your kids may text you updates.

How do you find a balance amid the technology?

* Craft a relationship that is based on intent. Mindless surfing online can waste your time, so ensure you have a definite purpose when you use technology. All of your online actions need a reason.

2. Live with technology instead of for it.

Technology and being connected doesn’t have to absorb your entire life. * Keep in mind that technology is a tool. Avoid making it the focus of your day or life.

3. Disconnect on a frequent basis.

It’s crucial to take breaks from always being connected to everyone through your phone, email, and social media.

* Take a tech break each week. Experts recommend setting aside the weekends for spending time with family and friends. Avoid surfing online, sending text messages, or uploading photos. Instead, interact with real people in the real world.

* It’s important to warn your connections ahead of time so you don’t cause concern when you suddenly “disappear.” They’ll get used to you taking weekends and vacations away from technology.

4. Manage your connections.

Do you really need to keep up with every person from your old school days? How many times do you need to check your social media accounts for new messages?

* It’s important to find a balance between keeping up to date with your connections and always being available. Of course, you want to stay in touch, but it doesn’t have to be an hourly issue.

* Try limiting the number of connections in your life to those that are important to you.

* Although it may hurt some feelings, consider “unfollowing” some people on social media, so you don’t have to be part of their drama anymore. Do what you can to maintain a stress-free social circle.

5. Partake in activities that reduce stress.

A hyper-connected world can make you feel on edge. It can increase stress and anxiety. It can also make you feel that you always have to be available to do everything.

* Schedule some time alone each day. The solitude will give you a chance to reflect, plan, de-stress, and re-energize. Try yoga, meditation, journaling, or keeping a diary.

* Pursue activities that make you feel peaceful and calm. Whether you hike in a park or dance in your living room, relax and disconnect from the world for a moment.

You can discover inner balance despite living in a hyper-connected world. Make these strategies daily habits and enjoy greater peace.

Job Stress? You Can Deal With It

Unless you’re independently wealthy, you probably have a job. It’s a safe bet that you probably like that job most of the time, but it can also be stressful and uncomfortable on occasion.

Stress is a natural part of anyone’s work environment, but if you learn to handle it in positive ways, you’ll enjoy greater job satisfaction.
Learning to deal with job stress can take time and effort, but there’s no better time than the present to get started on your journey to successfully handling stress and enjoying your job, day after day. It makes a better work environment for you and everyone you work with.

What Causes Your Stress?

There are mental and emotional manifestations of stress, but there are physical ones as well, and recognizing them can help make it easier to understand where most of your stress is coming from.

Knowing where you experience most of your stress won’t remove it, but gaining an understanding is the start of finding ways to lower your stress levels.

Some things that make you stressed on the job can include:

* Performance evaluations
* Deadline
* Making mistakes
* Work overload
* Training
* Office conflict

Even if there are a lot of things going on with your job that cause you stress, you can let that stress go and feel good again.

Letting Go of Job Stress at Work

Some people unleash their stress by yelling, acting out, and verbally attacking others around them. This can happen all too easily in an office environment where people are packed close together, but you can avoid these kinds of things and release your stress properly and gently.

Try these strategies to release your stress at work:

1. Remember to breathe. Breathing is vital for survival, but it’s also great for calming you down when you breathe effectively. Inhale slowly through your nose, and feel the air fill up your abdomen, not your lungs. Then exhale slowly through your mouth. If you do that a few times, you’ll feel calmer and less stressed. It’s great for anxiety, too.

2. Squeeze a stress ball. They’re small, lightweight, and designed to be squeezed when you feel stressed out. Even if you feel a little silly at first, they can be very beneficial.

Letting Go of Job Stress Away From the Job

When you get home from a challenging job, leave your stress behind. Avoid carrying it around with you as you go about the rest of your day. What happens at the office should really stay there, but that may be easier said than done.

Some things to consider when you let go of stress at home include prayer, meditation, yoga, exercises, talking things over with friends or family, playing with a pet, or anything else that makes you feel joyful and peaceful. You can create the kind of atmosphere you want in your own home, even if it’s not possible to do that at your job.

When you let go of job stress on a daily basis as it happens, you avoid going around frustrated and angry. It helps your relationships with other people, your own health, and the way you feel about yourself.

Some people turn to medications to deal with stress, but you have the ability to handle your job stress effectively on your own. Practice breathing, practice any activity that makes you happy, and practice appreciating what you have!
