Aren’t we all searching for the Fountain of Youth?

In a world that perceives intelligence, status, and beauty by age, people are clamoring for the latest anti-aging secret.

From low carbohydrate diets to Botox injections, everyone is waiting for the newest quick fix.

While, in reality, no one can be completely transformed overnight, there are some simple secrets that can assist in slowing down the aging process.

By incorporating these secrets into your daily life, you can retain your youthful look and vitality much longer than you imagine!

Here are seven secrets that can keep you looking and feeling young:

1. Diet. Focus your diet on fruits and vegetables – organic, raw, and fresh whenever possible.

Choose a variety of different types and colors to enjoy every day.

Different colored fruits and vegetables represent different vitamins that your body needs.

Raw fruits and vegetables also flush out toxins that your body may be harboring.

2. Exercise. This is common sense, but sense isn’t so common sometimes! Exercise is important for your body and mind.

You don’t have to lift 100 lb weights or run a marathon, you just need to stay active.

Whether that includes a daily walk, yoga, or swing dancing, do whatever it takes to keep your body moving.

Exercise strengthens the heart – a key component in staying young.

3. Limit alcohol consumption. Alcohol dehydrates the body and weakens the liver.

It’s your liver that flushes impurities from the body.

If you want to stay young and vibrant for as long as possible, limit alcohol consumption.

An occasional glass of red wine does have nutrients that can prevent heart attacks and other afflictions, so if you choose to indulge, a glass of red wine a day would be a good choice.

4. Quit smoking. Everyone knows that smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer and many diseases.

If you’re a smoker and hope to live a long and fruitful life, stop smoking now before it’s too late.

Joining a support group online or in your community will aid you in your quest to quit.

There are programs that help you stick with your plan, as well as people who can give you the much-needed encouragement and help hold you accountable for your actions each day.

5. Limit sun exposure. Too much sun exposure not only causes lines and wrinkles, but also makes us appear older.

In addition to those devastating effects, it also increases the chances for skin cancer.

Eight Simple Strategies to Motivate Your Children

Our children are one of the most important and precious people in our lives.

We want the best for them and hope they strive to do well in all things.

Children, just like adults, can develop motivational roadblocks that hold them back from achieving what they’re meant to do.

Since the inception of the Internet, television, video games, and social networking, motivating our children has gotten progressively more difficult.

To have them complete schoolwork, do some chores around the house, get more involved with school activities, or even just go outside to get some fresh air can be a struggle.

Here are some simple strategies you can use to help you motivate your children:

1. Praise your child for their accomplishments. When your child accomplishes something, no matter how big or small, be sure to express how proud you are of them.

If they know that they’ve made you happy, they’re more apt to strive to make that happen again.

2. Avoid focusing on the negative. We all make mistakes, so it’s much more productive not to harp on them.

You’ll receive much better results by focusing on what your child does well rather than the few mistakes they may make.

3. Show pride in your child’s work. Display a good grade or report card.

Placing their work on the refrigerator door, believe it or not, still works wonders!

When his accomplishments are proudly displayed, he’ll be motivated to achieve as much as he possibly can.

4. Brag. Call a grandparent, aunt, or uncle and tell them about your child’s recent accomplishment.

When your child sees that you take the time to make a special phone call because you’re so proud, it encourages them and boosts their confidence.

5. Use rewards. Every child likes to be rewarded for good work.

You can try things like a weekly allowance or a special treat, like a movie or ice cream, as a reward for good behavior.

Whatever the reward, children will strive to do their best to obtain these special treats.

This can be used for just about anything from a good grade to washing the family dog.

Children enjoy being able to receive something tangible for a job well done.

6. Show sincere enthusiasm in the things your child enjoys. As a child grows, his interests may change frequently.

As a parent, it’s important that you keep up with your child’s likes and dislikes.

7. Sit down and talk with your child. Find out why they’re interested in certain things and how you can help them with their activities.

If you show sincerity and really listen to what they’re telling you, it’ll be a big motivating factor.

8. Don’t overwhelm your child with goals. Naturally, we want our children to succeed, but sometimes we can overdo it.

After the homework, chores, and after-school activities, children deserve time to just be children.

If you give them some free time to do what they want, whether it be playing video games, watching television, or anything else they choose, it will keep them motivated to do other things as well.

Children are each a unique individual and have different interests and goals in life.

Though at times their motivation may waiver, we, as parents, will be there to point them in the right direction.

Attracting Positive Relationships Into Your Life

As we travel through our life’s journey, many relationships will come into our lives.

Some of them will be wonderful and long lasting; others, unfortunately, may be short term or unhappy.

Do you tend to attract more negative relationships than positive?

Though we strive to develop good, solid, and happy relationships, it seems we sometimes end up with exactly the opposite.

Wouldn’t you love to attract more positive relationships?

The good news is, you can!

Try some of these simple tips to enjoy more positive relationships in your life:

1. Patience. Wonderful relationships don’t occur overnight.

They take time to nurture and develop into something that’s long lasting.

To allow these relationships into your life, you must have the patience to let them grow.

When you begin a relationship that you perceive as being a positive one, don’t rush it.

You may be very pleased to see what develops down the road.

2. Believe that you’re deserving of it.

Be positive and avoid negative feelings or perceptions about yourself.

Know that you deserve to have happy, stable relationships in your life.

If you begin to think negatively, you must turn these negative thoughts around immediately.

Clear your mind and regain your self-confidence.

Remember, positive attracts positive.

When you think positive thoughts, you’ll be rewarded with positive results.

You’ll ultimately attract positive relationships into your life with the positive energy you’re giving off to others.

So be a good example of the friend or partner you look to attract!

3. Be true to yourself and others. If you’re not true to yourself, whether you believe it or not, others will sense this.

Be genuine to others and allow them to see your true feelings and personality.

Trying too hard to act like someone else could lead to embarrassment for you.

4. Don’t take relationships for granted. Remember to always give thanks for the valuable relationships in your life.

They may not be as numerous as you’d like, but rather than complaining, be thankful for the ones you have now and have had in the past.

By professing your gratitude genuinely, you’ll have an easier time attracting future positive relationships.

5. Be honest. If you’re in a negative relationship right now, that will tend to keep positive relationships from coming into your life.

Be honest with yourself and others.

Make a conscious decision to either improve that relationship or end it.

Honesty will pave the way for more positive, trusting relationships to enter your life.

Are you suffering from burnout?

Whether it’s caused by work issues, stress at home, relationship challenges, or a combination of all them, it can cause a frightening feeling of hopelessness!

Burnout often causes a feeling of numbness and not knowing how to get your life headed back in the right direction.

Take heart – hope is not lost! There are some strategies you can utilize to overcome burnout, once and for all.

Try these techniques to get relief from burnout:

1. Don’t blame yourself. Life is hectic and stressful, especially with all the intense demands placed on our shoulders.

If you’re feeling burnt out, rather than blaming yourself, be proactive in getting back in the saddle so you can feel like yourself again.

2. Remember, you’re in control of your destiny. Focus on what you can do, not what you think you should do.

3. Stop being so serious. With the stress and responsibilities you carry on a daily basis, you may be in need of some plain ol’ silly time.

Release your inhibitions and have some fun!

Whether it be dancing in your living room or swinging on the swings at a local park, take some time to find your inner child again.

This will help you let go of your current stress level, even if it’s just for a little while.

Making time to have fun will give you a chance to refocus and get your life and priorities back to where they need to be.

4. Stay healthy. It’s important to stay in peak physical condition when you’re under constant stress.

Eat many servings of fruits and vegetables, drink large amounts of water, and exercise.

Fit exercise into your busy schedule by making an appointment with yourself to exercise, and then keep your appointment!

5. Improve your time management skills. You may be burnt out because you’re trying to fit a week’s worth of stuff into a single day.

Unfortunately, that’s impossible!

Learning how to budget the time in your day more effectively will relieve a lot of this time pressure and stress.

Good time management will lessen the feeling of being overwhelmed, as well as enable you to have the time you need to do what you want to do.

6. Get enough sleep. This allows your body to rest, rejuvenate, and start the upcoming day with more energy.

You can also deal with stressful situations better when you’re alert and focused.

If you adhere to the 8 hours per night rule, you’ll find yourself more focused, levelheaded, and patient.

Everyone has unique talents and strengths, but whether we’ve discovered and actively developed them is the real question!

Maybe we’ve been told that we’re good at something, but we let our skills go untapped while we wait for the confidence and courage to take action.

There are even some people whose self-esteem is suffering to the point that they truly believe they don’t possess any talents at all!

If this is you, please believe that your talents are there, just waiting to be revealed to you!

These tried and true strategies will help you develop your strengths to their full potential:

1. Research. Perhaps you think that you’re strong in one area, but you aren’t completely sure.

This is where you need to look into things that interest you or that you believe you might be good at.

See what resources are available and what it would take to make the commitment to strengthen your strengths.

2. Patience. Developing your strengths to their full potential won’t occur overnight.

To fully develop a talent, you must be patient.

Patience is not easy and many of us tend to struggle with it.

But if you can be patient, you’ll definitely reap the benefits at the end of the process.

3. A useful way to think of developing your talents is to consider it as a journey.

It may take a while, but you’ll learn a lot along the way.

You’ll make mistakes and celebrate milestones, and by the time you’re done, your strength will be fully developed to the peak of your abilities.

4. Set goals. People are more successful when they set goals.

Write down what you’d like to accomplish and what date you’d like to achieve this by.

Remember to be realistic and review your goals frequently to keep yourself on track.

Post your goals in places where you’ll see them throughout the day.

The refrigerator, bathroom mirror, and your computer monitor are a few ideas.

How to Get More Done in Less Time

Do you find yourself wishing there were more hours in the day?

Our lives are so filled with work, family, and appointments that we often can’t seem to fit in everything we need to accomplish in a 24-hour day.

But what if we could accomplish more in less time?

If this were actually possible, it would allow us more time with those we care about and more time to focus on ourselves.

The good news is: there are simple strategies you can use to make the most of your days!

These tips will enable you to get more done in less time:

1. Make a list. Write out everything that you need to accomplish, and then joyfully cross off each task as you complete it.

As you see your list dwindling, it’ll provide the needed motivation to get the rest of the list done, too.

Put your list on the refrigerator, in your daily planner, or on the computer. Keep it somewhere handy so you can look at it often and stay focused.

2. Prioritize effectively. Determine which tasks are most important and what can possibly wait until later on in the day, week, or month.

If this is something you’re having trouble with, you may be trying to squeeze in tasks that can actually be put on hold for a future time.

Note the deadlines for your tasks.

If your in-laws are coming to visit, then cleaning the guest bathroom takes priority over re-organizing the basement.

3. Avoid procrastinating. Far too many people put things off to the last possible minute.

When this happens, we rush frantically to accomplish everything, but we end up doing a cruddy job and get ourselves all worked up for no good reason.

There is a better way!

Use your morning hours wisely and get tasks started early in the day.

Chances are you’ll finish them in one day rather than having it drag into a second day because you didn’t have enough time to get things done.

For some, this may mean waking up an hour or two earlier instead of sleeping an hour or two later.

4. Do the unpleasant tasks first. A great time management trick is to get the things you dislike out of the way first.

If you keep putting it off, you’ll attempt to squeeze it in somewhere, and you’ll get the feeling of being overwhelmed.

Schedule something fun after you finish your to-do list. This will motivate you to complete the list quicker.

5. Multi-task if you can. If you’re able to accomplish two things at once, then by all means do it.

If you can put dinner on the stove while making a doctor’s appointment or wait for a load of laundry to finish while you mend a pair of pants, you can cut your time in half.

6. Don’t sacrifice the quality of the tasks you’re performing.

If you burn dinner because you were looking at the calendar to make an appointment, this only wastes more of your time in the long run.

Unfortunately, there are days where it seems like we don’t have enough of the precious gift of time.

Thankfully, we can improve our time management skills so we’re able to accomplish more in any given day.

Improving these skills will reduce your stress level and give you more time to do the things that make you happy, leading to a more peaceful and fulfilling life.

How to Grow a Backbone

Do you feel as if everyone is taking advantage of your good nature?

Do you think they would still do it if you were more assertive?

Becoming more assertive is a goal that many of us want to achieve.

We feel disrespected and we want to be able to stand our ground without guilt or fear.

Developing a backbone is not an easy task, but it can be accomplished if you’re committed to it.

Here are some simple tips that will enable you to strengthen your assertiveness as quickly as possible:

1. Stop apologizing. Many of us use the term “I’m sorry” far too frequently and often at inappropriate times.

Think about when you use those two simple words. Is it in a situation that you truly should be sorry for?

Once you’re able to stop apologizing for every little thing, you’ll become more assertive.

Learn to differentiate between when there’s a need to apologize and when there isn’t.

Hitting someone’s cart in a grocery store because you weren’t looking warrants an apology.

Drinking the last cup of orange juice before your spouse is not a situation that warrants an “I’m sorry.”

If you’re watching television and your child prefers to sit in the chair you’re sitting in, “I’m sorry” isn’t appropriate.

2. Speak up. Tell those around you what you need.

Assertiveness requires good communication skills.

Be clear and firm with what you desire.

Practice standing up for yourself by conveying your wants and desires to others.

There’s no need to be aggressive or nasty.

Simply communicate that you have thoughts, opinions and needs, too.

Once you begin to express these better, the people around you will learn how to appreciate and respect you more, too.

If you want to develop a backbone, this isn’t the time to be a mouse and stand in the corner.

Voice your opinion and be proud of what you have to say; people will take notice and listen.

3. Be committed and patient. It’s wonderful that you’ve decided to make positive changes in your life.

It’s something that you should be proud of!

Unfortunately though, a complete transformation won’t occur overnight.

You’ve entered into a journey, and you must be willing to stick it out!

You’ll experience good and bad days, but you mustn’t give up.

As long as you remain committed and patient, you’ll succeed in what you’re trying to accomplish.

Focus on the big picture down the road and imagine how much your life will improve once you’re able to stand up for yourself.

4. Work on your body language. Body language is extremely important in any situation.

When trying to become more assertive, your body language must reflect this as well.

Stand straight, speak up, make sure your hands aren’t crossed over your chest, and maintain eye contact with whomever you’re speaking with.

5. If you look assertive, people will perceive you as such.

If you keep your eyes on the floor, have your hands across your chest, or mumble incoherently, you’ll have trouble to get your point across.

Assertiveness can help you in your personal life, career, family, and many other areas.

Though it may take a bit of time, as long as you make positive steps to grow your new backbone, it will be there before you know it!

How to Live the Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction has intrigue more people than ever.

So what is the Law of Attraction and how can it benefit you?

It’s actually a quite simple concept.

If you focus on the positive, you’ll attract the positive.

If you focus on the negative, you’ll attract the negative.

Because of its simplicity, some people think this is utterly ridiculous, yet the Law of Attraction has been proven by countless people around the world throughout the ages.

If you have an open mind and are willing to give it a try, you can live the life of your dreams.

Here are some simple tips and suggestions you can use to live the Law of Attraction:

1. Rid yourself of negative thoughts and feelings.

Negativity will ultimately drive away the positive things you deserve, so you must learn how to erase your mind of anything negative.

Quite honestly, this will require some practice, but it’s worth it!

For example, if you find yourself standing in a long line and complaining about it, stop complaining and be thankful that you’re well enough to stand in that line.

If you’re five dollars short to purchase something and wishing you weren’t so poor, turn that around to be thankful you have any money at all.

After you consciously do this enough times, it will become second nature.

The more you focus on positive things, the more positive things you’ll receive and vice versa.

2. Surround yourself with those who think the same.

Plain and simple, this means to hang out with positive people.

If you spend enough time surrounded by negative people, you’ll begin to complain, whine, and sulk over meaningless things, too.

Is there someone in your life that you admire because of his or her optimistic outlook?

Then that person is someone you’ll want to spend quality time with.

Engulf yourself in their happiness and positive karma, and you’ll soon be upbeat and positive, too!

3. Visualize what the future holds for you.

We all hold hopes and dreams for our future.

Whether we want a better job, a bigger house, a new car, or more money, we all wish and daydream for something.

Next time you daydream about that new house, actually visualize yourself in the house.

Imagine exactly what the house looks like, your family watching television in the living room, and you making their favorite dish in the kitchen.

Visualization sends a positive signal out to the universe.

If you practice it consistently, you’ll be rewarded with what you desire.

4. Learn to give thanks. Whether or not you realize it, you have much to be thankful for.

It’s extremely important that you take some quiet time to give thanks for all that has been given to you.

Truly search your soul and list everything you’re grateful for.

Don’t do this haphazardly!

Practice this each and every day, usually upon rising in the morning.

As you keep doing this, you’ll discover that you’re receiving more and more to be thankful for.

How to Make Your Dreams a Reality

Ever since we were children, we’ve had dreams.

The sad thing is, over the years we convinced ourselves that our dreams could never come true.

Because we assumed that they were mere fantasies, we didn’t even try to make them come true.

Believe it or not, your dreams can be reality!

However, you won’t get anywhere by simply making a wish.

You have to take specific actions to increase your chances of living that life you always dreamed of.

These are some simple techniques that can help you get started:

1. You must possess passion and desire.

These two elements are crucial for living your dream. Interestingly enough, you really can’t have one without the other.

You must yearn to have something in your life so much (desire) and for the right reasons (passion).

A good example to illustrate the difference would be if you always wanted to be a professional singer.

You know that you have the talent and all you want in life is to sing on a professional stage some day (desire).

Your focus isn’t the money, fame, or prestige; you just have a true love for singing.

It’s all you think about all-day, every day (passion).

2. Patience. Patience isn’t easy, but in most case, our dreams don’t come true overnight.

You need to work hard to achieve your full potential.

Though it may take longer than you hoped, once you’re living your dream, you’ll realize that practicing patience was worth the rewards.

Just remember to remain positive, focus on your dreams, and keep taking action to make those dreams a reality.

After all, patience is a virtue!

3. Sacrifice. Achieving your dreams will require self-sacrifice.

This is usually where most people can gauge how serious they are about turning their dreams into reality.

Whether it is giving up your TV time to work toward your goals, or spending extra hours at work to further your career, you have to be willing to sacrifice something.

If you’re truly passionate about your dreams, this shouldn’t be too difficult.

If you do find sacrifice extremely difficult, it may be that you don’t possess enough desire, passion, willpower, or self-discipline to see your dreams through.

4. Confidence. If you truly want to make your dreams real, you have to believe they can happen.

You must possess an intense confidence in yourself and your talents; otherwise, your dreams will remain dreams forever.

Sometimes your confidence may waiver, but as long as you can focus on your ultimate goal – and you can actually see yourself achieving this goal – you’re heading in the right direction.

Final Thoughts on Achieving Your Dreams

No one can steal your dreams away from you except you.

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy, biggest obstacle, and harshest critic.

But that’s not what you need!

Here are some natural foods to provide you with an upper hand in your weight loss battle:

1. Choose brown rice over white rice. Why brown rice?

The answer is simple, fiber.

Brown rice is loaded with fiber.

Due to the simple fact that the rice’s hull is kept intact during its processing, it retains its fiber content.

The natural fiber in brown rice allows our systems to run smoother and keeps us full for much longer than low fiber white rice.

Brown rice can be found in any grocery store, usually next to the white rice.

Throw some extra vegetables or herbs into the rice for some extra flavor and variety.

2. Choose sweet potatoes over white potatoes.

They aren’t just for Thanksgiving anymore!

Sweet potatoes are high in anti-oxidants and vitamins and are absolutely delicious as well.

Peel and cut sweet potatoes into chips or shoestring fries and roast in the oven for a tasty and colorful treat.

3. Water. Water is at the top of the list for a natural weight loss strategy.

It sounds pretty obvious, but the truth is, we don’t tend to drink enough water every day.

Not only does water flush out toxins and impurities, but it also helps in raising the metabolism, regulating body temperature and keeping our heart and brain healthy.

Be aware that the popular flavored waters often add some kind of sugar, artificial sweetener, or even salt to the formula, making them less healthy than plain water.

Stick to the natural stuff!

4. Legumes and beans. The benefits that beans and legumes provide are absolutely outstanding!

6. Vegetables. Vegetables are one of the building blocks of good nutrition, and essential to weight loss success.

High in vitamins and nutrients, veggies also provide us with energy to sustain us throughout the day.

Plus, they have very little sodium, so they reduce bloating and water weight gain.

Try to incorporate veggies into your lunches and dinners every day, specifically aim for dark orange and dark green vegetables like squash, spinach, pumpkin, and romaine lettuce.

A simple side salad or lettuce and tomato on a sandwich are easy ways to get started.

7. Eat organic and raw. It’s always best when trying to lose weight naturally to utilize organic products as much as possible.

Organic produce is free of pesticides and preservatives and raw foods retain all of their natural vitamins and minerals.

By ridding your body of these dangerous chemicals, weight loss can occur that much easier.

Visit your local farmer’s market and support your local farmer.

They might also have a larger variety of organic produce than the grocery stores.
